Chapter Two: Betrayal of the Scientific Trust

The accused was being led away from the court to the temporary holding cell for those prisoners convicted by death in the electron chambers, as he looked on to his fellow Taxonomists who initiated the case against him. It was too rare for Taxonomists to be impeached during those days in the golden era, and many of them never attempted to sabotage anyone in the Taxonomy uniform out of respect and privilege because of the brutality of the penal clauses of the Code of Taxonomy.

But in this one particular case, everybody thinks he deserve to be put to death, with all of the "unscientific" conduct he has made regarding his treatment of his wife and daughters. It was unimaginable for anybody committing these serious crimes, and his defense of lack of "scientific basis" for these acts justify that he should be released on demurrer to evidence because he can never be "subjected to the same standard employed by the Literary Committee in a trial made by the Scientific Council."

The crime in question pertains to his inhumane treatment of his wife and family, whom he regularly abuses verbally and physically, and his repeatedly rape acts committed against his own daughters, which fueled so much opposition and resentment from the public, both by those swearing allegiance to the Scientific Council or the Literary Committee alike.

The court gave credence to the arguments presented by the prosecutors of this case, that "although the Scientific Council does not adhere directly to the same strict standards of the Literary Committee with regard to the art of human expression, and the humanities in general, it is very clear upon the appreciation of the acts committed that it violates the intrinsic principles of juridical science, including the logic of the scientific method."

Brutality is not just a literary concept, but can be measured by scientific inquiry with enough cognizance for these results from observable premises, including the severity of the evidence presented, that "the acts made by the accused is unfairly made, even by merely employing the simple scientific attempts of juridical standards through logic and reason, without necessarily appealing to the separate clauses related to, and sponsored by, the Literary Committee regarding the direct relationship and overlapping provisions of the concept of justice."

This case came to be a landmark case, and the way it was decided was widely received by the many people regardless of their allegiance. The Government for the Literary Committee, through its Chairman, even said in a well-publicized interview that the court's decision was a harmonization of science and the arts, and that it proves, even by judicial standards, that this harmony will provide long-term stability and peace in The Renaissance Society for the many centuries to come.

Everybody seems to be pleased with the way the Scientific Council carefully handles its political and judicial affairs, except for this very important person. And he is working within reach to the many sensitive parts hidden behind the elements that defines the dynamics of the Code of Taxonomy. This Code is only an experiment from the future, and everybody living in the past has no clear idea that they are being subjected as part of a bigger experiment.

Life is perilous, but the danger comes in more than just injustice or abuses. Life's cruelty directly lies in the danger of living, the anxiety associated with wanting to live and escape the problematic past to no avail, or the simple fact that somebody's death is only a matter of seconds in the hands of the provisions of the very same Code.

The paradox of living is very clear, and there is a method to the madness.

They will eventually die, one by one, either peacefully or painfully, notwithstanding.
