Chapter Fifteen: A Jurisdiction of Sorts
"These are definitely cryptic messages."
"Do you think the Literarians are indeed involved? I know this will be a serious allegation at this point, but we need to justify our shortcomings to our own people."
The discovery of the writings in itself draws attention from government authorities, as well as the senior staff of the Tower of Taxonomy, because of the messages it wish to portray. Only someone with literary inclination could have written such strong words, which depicts wisdom in a playful character of a riddle. Although the verses are attributed to a certain author, no one knows for sure if these individuals actually exist.
The Scientific Council is in agreement that these supposed authors are imaginary and does not exist, but the message itself offers a clue on who might be doing the crimes against the Sovereign See of Dunster. However, they have no solid proof yet as to incriminate the Literary Committee and the Vicariate to hold them into account.
If the Titular Bishop of Literature was indeed responsible for these atrocities, partly or indirectly, then the Scientific Council will most cordially beat them in their own game.
"Is the Principal Legate involved? Do you suppose?"
"There is now a murder on the Literary side. How do you see this new development?"
"Diversionary tactic, that's what I would say."
It was a premature suspicion at this juncture of the facts, but it is not made without grounds. It was too obvious for them that the literary inclinations of the science of crimes are being used for a definite end, which may culminate in a civil war to be fought over suspicions and tactical manipulations made by those divine creatures who have powers.
Angels and Demons.
Yet, no one saw it coming.
Still, it is at this point that the Sovereign See of Dunster has already petitioned the Commission of Higher to grant them and the Imperial Synod an autonomous status to "further the noblest causes in the hands of wisdom and the most solemn natural miracles from above."
The matter is already given due credence, and it is about to be the biggest mistake that the Story Board will ever make, as this story begins to reach its worst conflict yet.
The scenes featured above are too familiar for any current reader to be gravely mistaken, and the force of evil spells the doom from peril to a very painful death. The backdoor to the world of reality will be discovered soon enough, and it will be too late when the very same fact has been discovered.
It is quite true, then. Tomorrow is never promised.
