Chapter Twenty Eight: Manslaughter, In Verses

Love never dies a natural death.
It dies because we do not know how to
replenish its source. It dies of blindness,
and errors, and betrayals. It dies of illness
and wounds; it dies of weariness,
of whitherings, of tarnishings.

Verses of a Certain Faith

And what about manslaughter
carried in the truthful verses?
Was the truth worthy of death?
Of new beginnings, sources, and journeys?
Is someone to die as a witness
To the peril of lies?
Of what extent must be professed?
To see the beauty of arms
And the most sacred places?
Yet to be stoned by beliefs
Done in the crushing form of defeats?

Yet, here we are, trying to live
To give the melody to the rain
The swaying of the winds, nonetheless
As we approach the dangers of work
The employment of the souls, covered
In blood, the labor of love
Truthful to the most holy divine
And as we sing the song
An ode to the literary world

But, still, we must persist
Resist the impending death
Of manslaughter in first degree
The killings of the solemn dreams
But crossings, a certain peat
Guides everyone to the sadness
Pointing durectly to him
Destroyer in the nightmares
Of inconclusive hymns

To breathe the air of life
We must see the fragility
Comfort of the soul's unite
A poem, a verse
A truth untold, unbearable
A weak cry, the weeping eyes
Of competence
In love
In conduct
In morals
And all things
That color the morning sky

The boundaries of the mind's
Insufficient evidence
To the homicide of careful
Consideration to be questioned
Authorities in the middle of fraud
The life of payments
Of slander in the worst form
The strength gathered in the fairness
Of good, infinite thoughts

And it must appeal
To everybody's storms,
and any other rain it seems
From the sadness of the clouds
Heavy, a precipitation
To the enduring humanity
Of unprofessed truths
A killing no more
Premeditated treachery
Of a felony, it was
A crime, cruel indeed
By the sword
of a knight
In limited knowledge
For the shamless escape
And a call for help
Left without a note
Unlawful actions
But, of course
Nothing else prolongs
The agony of the soul
The face so strong
But the beauty
Of such verses
Desires redemption

Ezra is to die, then reborn.
