Chapter Thirty Seven: The Civil Registry

Creatures, or the notions of death

A registry of deeds, an instrument

Within the meaning of words

And the lasting mark of several proportions

Quickly, but not to judge

Nor exhibit negative thoughts

Many persuasive ways to see

A hymn of semantics

The documents of peace

Of love, of hope

 A certain faith, and some remorse

Those who are ethical

To see in a certain mode

The more it was sought

The less it was provoked

To enter the words

It gives credence to the act

A lesson, a moral science

In complete obedience to the light

Of the things gratified

Beholden with valor

One must seek the meaning

The words defined

The paragraphs created

Even petrified

A literary encumbrance

Enter, if you must!

But one must not waver

Bravery is as important

The lessons to be trusted

Too meek to be still

Yet, by the power of dreams

A constant reminder

Of the fragility

In a world of wonder

To capture the rogue Civil Registrar

While the lessons endlessly flow

Not a real manger

Where a holy child is to be born

They are the Creatures made

From the imagination lends

There are animals spared

But not the ordinary ones

They are talking like madmen

And they are happy enough!

So these abstract Creatures

They were trying to resolve

The essence of their play

A destruction is on the way

Treachery, and the alias of faith

Some of them loosely connects

No oath shall overtake!

Believe, to see

To hear, the sense of sight

To feel, to smell the scent

The humanly experience

Trapped in the middle sense

Creatures persuade overwhelmingly

Than the mere rhetoric of great

The mechanisms of the literary

All the Letters to be made!

Must they be outrageously good?

Totally hooked?

Beholden, so cruel

In spirit, partaken?

May the poems bring rhyme

Life to the crime

Of humanity stolen

From the registry with fire

To feel what must be felt

An emotional bend

To gaze into the horizon

Like a moment of grace

To ruin such past

History cries too much

No further moments must see

The sorrows we cannot quit.
